A dietitian's advice for eating healthy during the holidays!

Eating healthy or sticking to a nutrition plan can seem daunting, but it doesn't have to! Here are a few tips that can help you during the holidays!


  1. Avoid skipping meals to save up for a feast. You will have a harder time managing your blood sugar, and you may overeat when you do sit down for a meal.

  2. Keep your blood sugar level steady by eating close to your usual times and cut back on the other carbohydrates such as potatoes and bread, if you have a sweet treat.

  3. Outsmart the buffet by picking your favorite food and move away and eat slowly. This will avoid recreational eating.

  4. Slow down and savor the dishes you love and you cant find any other time of year. No food is on the naughty list!

  5. Aim for 7 to 8 hours per night of sleep to guard against mindless eating. Sleep loss can make it harder to manage your blood sugar. Enjoy your holiday!
